UFC 105 is set for Nov. 14 at the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England and will feature Randy Couture (16-10) vs. Brandon Vera (11-3) for the main event.
Couture (16-10) appeared last month at UFC 102, losing a unanimous decision to former Pride and interim UFC champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in a bout considered by many to be an instant classic. Following the bout, Couture hinted at a possible drop to 205 pounds, where he fought for nearly three years, thrice winning title honors.
The bout will mark Couture’s U.K. debut as well as his first fight at light heavyweight since his 2006 loss to Chuck Liddell at UFC 57. The UFC Hall of Famer is still ranked among the top ten heavyweights in the world, but chances are he will finish out his career at light heavyweight.
Vera (14-3) fought alongside Couture on the Pacific Northwest card last month, winning a unanimous decision victory over Krzystzof Soszynski. Once a heavyweight himself, Vera has notched a 3-1 Octagon record as a light heavyweight.
Also, a middleweight fight between Michael Bisping and Dennis Kang at UFC 105. Kang wasn’t the first choice for an opponent, as Bisping’s camp wanted Wanderlei Silva in the fight, but Silva never had any intention of fighting Bisping and didn’t plan on taking any fights at all until January 2010.
Bisping, the light heavyweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter 3, holds an MMA record of 17-2. He will be looking to rebound from a devastating knockout loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 100 this past July.
Kang is currently 1-1 in the UFC with an overall record of 32-11-1 plus 2 no contests. He last fought at UFC 97 in April, where he defeated Xavier Foupa-Pokam via unanimous decision.
Other fights tentatively scheduled for UFC 105 include Dan Hardy vs. Dong Hyun Kim, Aaron Riley vs. Ross Pearson, Paul Taylor vs. John Hathaway, and Terry Etim vs. Shannon Gugerty.
