BJ Penn Vs Pulver Odds at the Palms Casino Betting Lines.
Saturday, June 23 at 9:00pm |
It has taken over five years, but on Saturday, June 23 at 9:00pm BJ Penn finally gets his rematch. The Ultimate
Fighter 5 coaches and former UFC champions, Penn (10-3-1) and Jens Pulver (21-6-1) step back into the Octagon together
for a rematch nearly a half a decade in the making at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV.
The main event of the show's finale will be between the coaches BJ Penn and Jens Pulver.
Penn is a Hawaiian born mixed martial arts fighter who specializes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He was the first
American-born winner oft he World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in the black belt category in 2000. He is now 28 years
old but has only fought in 14 MMA matches, winning 10, losing 4, with 1 draw. He has four wins via knockout and
three by submission. The biggest win of Penn's career came in 2004 at UFC 46 when he jumped up a weight class to
fight five-time defending welterweight champion Matt Hughes. Hughes had already fought through most of the available
competition, but lost the fight four minutes in the first round by a rear naked choke. Penn never defended his title
because he left to sign with K-1. Penn's return to the UFC came in 2006 when he lost the number one contender match
to Georges St. Pierre in a close decision; however, St. Pierre was hurt in training for his fight with Hughes and Penn
filled in. He controlled the fight into round three before hurting his ribs, allowing Hughes to take control and stop
the match with punches.
Jens Pulver has earned the nickname of Little Evil and currently stands at 21-7-1 with 13 knockouts and two submissions.
His first loss in the UFC came in his last fight back in September of 2006 against Joe Lauzon due to punches. He had
been fighting in other organizations, with two wins and two losses in PRIDE. Before leaving the UFC in January of 2002
his last fight was against BJ Penn, in which he won a split decision before giving up the UFC Lightweight title.

Jens Pulver had less than a stellar performance his first fight back in the Octagon at UFC 63. Jens was so happy about
being back in the UFC that he self-admittedly forgot to concentrate on Joe Lauzon, his opponent. Forty eight seconds later,
that fight was over.
Jens hasn’t fought since then because he was chosen to be a coach on season five of the Ultimate Fighter. He will be facing
his top nemesis in BJ Penn on the live season finale.
The winner of the Ultimate Fighter gets a six-figure contract which breaks down to $36,000 guaranteed, but $12,000 for fight and
$12,000 extra for a win. If a fighter goes 9-0 in three seasons then a guy has a chance to win $360,000 in all.
