Darchinyan will defend his unified junior bantamweight titles against Jorge Arce at the Honda Center
in Anaheim.

Mexico’s Cristian Mijares Nov. 1, 2008, on SHOWTIME.
For more than a year, one of the most talked-about potential fights in boxing has been a showdown between
brash brawlers Vic Darchinyan and Jorge Arce.
However, bad blood between Top Rank and Shaw, combined with Arce (51-4-1, 39 KOs) suffering a one-sided
decision loss to Cristian Mijares in April 2007 and Darchinyan (31-1-1, 25 KOs) losing his flyweight title
via brutal knockout to Nonito Donaire in July 2007, knocked the fight off track.
Darchinyan ( 31-1-1 , 25 KOs ), of Sydney , Australia by way of Armenia , and Arce (51-4-1, 39 KOs ),
from Los Mochis, Mexico, will settle their bitter hostilities toward each other, once and for all,
in a fight to the finish.
The popular, crowd-pleasing Jorge “Travieso” Arce, of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, is the current WBA
interim super flyweight champion and is a former WBC 115-pound and WBO 108-pound titleholder.
Arce has been victorious in five consecutive fights, including a fourth-round TKO over Isidro Garcia
Nov. 1, 2008, to capture the interim WBA strap, and has won 31 out of his last 32. The only loss
during his scintillating run came on a 12-round decision to Mijares on April 14, 2007.
Their battle will be televised live nationally on SHOWTIME Championship Boxing, beginning at 9 p.m. ET /PT
(delayed on the West Coast.)
