In his second HBO appearance, undefeated super middleweight champ Joe Calzaghe (42-0, 31 KOs) from Newbridge, Wales defends his title against hot newcomer Peter Manfredo, Jr. (26-3, 12 KOs) from Providence, RI in a scheduled 12-round bout.

Joe Calzaghe at 34, returns to the ring after successfully defending his titles last month for the 19th time, defeating former Olympian Sakio Bika. Calzaghe ended Bika’s four-year, 12-bout unbeaten streak, in a spirited fight that also
marked Calzaghe’s debut on HBO. The victory elevated Calzaghe into a sixth-place tie with former strawweight champion Ricardo López and former featherweight champion Eusebio Pedroza on the all-time list for successful title defenses.

A victory over Manfredo would advance Calzaghe into a fourth-place tie with former heavyweight champion Larry Holmes and former middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins.

Manfredo Jr., of Providence, is 26-3 (12 KOs) and is ranked No. 7 by the WBO and No. 8 by the WBC. "The Contender," which was broadcast in 100 countries, was first shown on NBC and moved to ESPN in its second season. Co-trained by the legendary Sugar Ray Leonard, the 25-year-old Manfredo has other
plans for this 168-pound title.

The Pre card fightwill be a ten-round lightweight bout between British sensation Amir Khan (11-0, 8 KOs) and fellow Briton Steffy Bull (24-4-1, 5 KOs). Khan captured silver at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and has been on the fast track since turning pro. Bull, a rugged southpaw with considerably more experience, promises to be the toughest test to date of Khan's young pro career.
