Sportbet Monday Night Football

Monday, Sept. 8

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers

A sports bet on a televised NFL or College football games is something we all are going to do sometime or another.

I don't care how much of a professional you are, there will be a time when your team is going to be on TV, and sometimes you just want to have a little sports betting action on Monday night.

Betting NFL and College Football TV GamesTV games, a boon to sportsbooks and a huge draw for football bettors around the world. Did you know that televised NFL and college football games are bet far heavier than non-televised games? Do you realize how much more money is bet on TV games? It is amazing the difference in handle on a TV game and a non-TV game when it comes to football betting.

Monday Night Football has been a United States institution since 1970 and it has been a betting bonanza for the last 20+ years. If you are having a very difficult week with your betting, never fear, Monday Night Football can bail you out of the whole week. If you had a great week, it is the icing on the cake. There is nothing like it in all of gambling.

Sportsbooks can live or die on two key games each weekend, the Sunday night NFL game and Monday Night Football.

It used to be that the Sunday night game was the most important game of the week. Yes, even more important than Monday night. The reason for this change is that many people want to bail out of their bad Sundays on the evening Sunday night game.

Starting in 2008, ESPN will begin airing the Monday night games and NBC will get ESPN's Sunday night package.

The NFL's decision to swap the nights games are on cable and network TV is because Sunday nights now have the highest viewership of any night of the week. ABC decided to stay with its successful prime time package of shows, headlined by Desperate Housewives, leaving NBC with the Sunday night package. The Sunday night game now will be the "showcase" game of the week on the NFL schedule.

While the ESPN broadcasts will have the MNF name and heritage, NBC (like ABC) is a broadcast network, whereas ESPN is a cable service not freely available to all Americans, though any ESPN games will still air on free broadcast TV in the home markets of each team. For that reason, NBC, not ESPN, will gain rights to the wild card doubleheader that has traditionally aired on ABC, as well as a share of the rotating rights to the Super Bowl (with CBS and Fox also in the mix).

Also, John Madden, key MNF production personnel, and most recently Al Michaels have all elected to join NBC for its broadcasts.
